I am currently taking a break from teaching while I anticipate the birth of our first kiddo, who is due in August 2017.

Mixed Styles Yoga
This class incorporates the breath, traditional and nontraditional flows, alignment-based work, core strengthening, yin-style stretching and often a restorative pose or two. If you have no idea what all that yoga-lingo means, don't worry, this is an all levels class and a great chance to explore the breadth of this thing we call “yoga.” Modifications and optional poses are offered throughout the practice, making this class appropriate for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
This class focuses on embodying the complementary qualities of yin and yang in physical poses, breathing practices, and meditation practices to restore the body and the mind to health and equilibrium. We begin with a slow flow sequence to gently move and strengthen the whole body. Moving at a mindful pace with the breath, the yang portion of class is an opportunity to join mind and body and to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. The second half of class consists of yin yoga poses, deep stretches held for 3-7 minutes. Yin is not only great for the joints and improving flexibility; it also challenges the flexibility of the mind and is an opportunity to deepen your meditation practice. Modifications and optional poses are offered throughout the practice, making this class appropriate for all levels.
Yoga At The VA
I am also proud to participate as a teacher in the WRIISC yoga program at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. We offer chair and mat yoga classes at the Palo Alto and Menlo Park facilities and through Telehealth at Community-based Clinics across the Bay Area. Classes are available to all Veterans enrolled in health care at the VA Palo Alto with a referral from their doctor.
